Social Shoulds, Shouldn’ts and ‘So What’s’?! Navigating Self Identity On and Offline

WITH MATT PURCELL

Mention social media to a parent of a tween or teen, and you’ll get one of two reactions. An overshare of behind the scenes of ‘Keeping up with the Jones’’, or a shudder. Yep. Raising happy, healthy and confident kids who are kind to themselves and others sure is a rollercoaster ride for parents and teachers of this globally connected next gen. Matt Purcell and Mariane Power share the not so often discussed ‘real’ and ‘raw’ conversation starters that will help you navigate social and emotional learning for identity development with your kids, at home, and in the classroom!

Some of the things that I've helped young people with over the years is... peeling underneath the surface and going okay, what if you couldn't be smart and go to work? What if you had if you're an athlete, what if you couldn't run again? What would you be then? Or start peeling back the things I feel that they need? If you even had a meal? What are you then because I don't know like and really the value pieces he like you are valuable regardless of what you do.
